What to Expect during Treatment?

Lumecca can usually be completed in under 45 minutes at MedicSPA Gatineau. To begin the treatment process, protective eyewear will be provided. This will shield you from the bright flashes of light. Next, a cool gel will be applied to the treatment area. This will provide lubrication and help keep the skin cool during the procedure.

Brief pulses of light will be applied to the skin via the hand-piece. During this step, patients will feel a warm sensation and may experience slight discomfort, similar to the snap of a rubber band on the skin. The larger the treatment area, the more pulses you will require. Once the procedure is complete, the treatment area will be iced to soothe the skin.

Recovery

Recovery following IPL with Lumecca is typically short. Patients may notice redness and dark spots on the skin, although these side effects usually diminish within one week. In some cases, the skin may return to normal within a few hours. Full results are typically noticeable just a few days after the first session. After treatment, it is essential that patients protect the skin by wearing sunblock and avoiding excessive sun exposure.
