What Are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are non-surgical injectable treatments that plump or “fill” the area beneath the skin to restore facial fullness while diminishing the appearance of wrinkles and creases.
Most dermal fillers are composed of hyaluronic acid (HA), a compound found naturally in the tendons and muscles. Hyaluronic acid attracts and retains moisture, so, when the HA dermal filler solution is injected, volume is restored..
Some injectable fillers (RADIESSE®) consist of calcium hydroxyapatite instead of HA. This calcium-based injectable filler works differently from those consisting of HA. This filler works to stimulate new collagen production (biostimulation) in the treatment area, allowing for plumper features and smoother, healthier-looking skin. Dr. Berbari has been using this biostimulation filler for more than 15 years.
HydraFacial® Perk is a lip and eye treatment that helps to slightly plump lips and brighten the areas around the eyes. This is a great combination treatment with dermal fillers and helps to maintain lip hydration to maintain filler results.

How Are Dermal Filler Injections Performed?
Dermal filler treatments are simple and effective. Because MedicSPA Gatineau carries a full line of dermal fillers, your treatment will likely consist of one or more products for optimal results. Your exact treatment protocol will be specifically designed for you based on your needs and aesthetic wishes.
Dr. Berbari will meet with you for your initial dermal filler consultation to help you decide whether dermal fillers will provide you with the results you want, or if another non-surgical or surgical procedure is better suited to the task.
Your dermal filler treatment will be completed by Dr. Patricia Berbari.
During your treatment session, a topical anesthetic solution is applied to the treatment area to minimize discomfort. Additionally, many dermal fillers contain lidocaine as an active ingredient, which limits pain. Dr. Berbari will inject the dermal filler solution into the designated treatment area(s). The number of injections depends on the extent of correction needed. Once the injections are finished, you can return to your normal activities.
Dermal fillers can be used in conjunction with multiple skin nourishing and revitalizing treatments and injectable neuromodulators to help you achieve the appearance that you desire.

Are There Risks and Complications With Dermal Fillers?
There is no recovery or downtime associated with dermal fillers. Due to the length of the treatment session, many patients choose to complete their dermal filler injections during their lunchtime, since they are able to return to their daily activities immediately following their treatment.

While there is no recovery time, patients may experience swelling, bruising, and discomfort at the injection sites; however, these side effects should dissipate within a few days.

When Will I See My Results?

Additionally, limiting sun exposure, wearing sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher, and maintaining a consistent skincare routine can prolong your results.
